David Bowie’s stone was unveiled in a red carpet ceremony on Camden High St with rockstar friends, collaborators and fans paying tribute to the Brixton-born artist.
David Bowie’s friend and collaborator “Woody” Woodmansey - who is best known as a member of the Spiders from Mars - unveiled the stone, telling the crowds “It’s an honour to be doing this”.

The ceremony also featured various tributes and speeches, and a performance from Bowie guitarist Kevin Armstrong. Plus, though they couldn’t be there on the day, Tina Turner, Goldie, Rick Wakeman of Yes, Roger Taylor of Queen all sent their messages of appreciation for David Bowie in the form of letters and video.
Other guests at the ceremony included, Kevin Armstrong, solo artist and guitarist for David Bowie, Iggy Pop and more, Clifford Slapper - a pianist and producer who has worked with David Bowie, Music Walk of Fame founder Lee Bennett and Bowie photographer who shot the cover of Aladdin Sane, Chris Duffy.

Later on in the day, Kevin Armstrong, Clifford Slapper and Woody Woodmansey performed a special Bowie tribute set at Camden’s Jazz Cafe, including beloved hits Starman and Ziggy Stardust.
The unveiling came as part of a 75 year celebration of Bowie this year and in the lead up to the global release of Brett Morgen’s MOONAGE DAYDREAM, which is out cinemas now.

The stone, laid opposite Camden Town Tube Station, joins other music legends including The Who, Soul2Soul, Madness and Amy Winehouse.
