The FREE NOW Albums Of The Year 2022 Mercury Prize ceremony takes place this Thursday, 8 September 2022.

The prestigious event, which will feature live performances from nominated artists and culminate in the announcement of this year's winner.

Who won the Mercury Prize in 2021?

Arlo Parks took home the gong at the 2021 Mercury Prize for her debut album Collapsed In Sunbeams.

The singer-songwriter took home the trophy and cheque for £25,000 and performed her song from the winning album, Too Good.

In a tweet after the cremoney, Parks wrote: "I feel surrounded by so much talent and genuine love for music - this is the venue I used to cycle by on the way to school as a kid…"

Who won the first Mercury Prize?

The first ever Mercury Prize was won by Primal Scream in 1992 for Screamadelica.

Has anyone won the Mercury Prize twice?

Yes. PJ Harvey is the only artist to win the award more than once: First in 2001 with Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea and again in 2011 with Let England Shake.
