James Corden has reached out and apologised "profusely" after claims he was rude to Balthazar staff by its owner.

The Late Late Show host is known for trending for his Carpool Karaoke segment, but this week he went viral for the wrong reasons when Keith McCally revealed he was banned from his New York restaurant because of the way he treated their staff.

However, he's since updated his followers to reveal Corden has been forgiven and his ban has been lifted after he reached out to him personally.

Taking to Instagram, the owner wrote: “James Corden just called me and apologised profusely,” McNally wrote. “Having fucked up myself more than most people, I strongly believe in second chances. So if James Corden lets me host his Late Late Show for 9 months, I’ll immediately rescind his ban from Balthazar. No, of course not.”

He added: "But....anyone magnanimous enough to apologise to a deadbeat layabout like me (and my staff) doesn’t deserve to be banned from anywhere,” McNally added. “Especially Balthazar. So Come Back to the 5 & Dime, Jimmy Corden, Jimmy Corden. All is Forgiven. xx”

The news comes a day after McNally shared a post, which began: "James Corden is a Hugely gifted comedian, but a tiny Cretin of a man. And the most abusive customer to my Balthazar servers since the restaurant opened 25 years ago."

McNally went on to share two managers reports in which the Gavin and Stacey star threw his weight around and shouted at the waiting staff.

The first report read: "In June, James Corden was here on table 61. (Although this is diabolical, it happens Very occasionally in all restaurants.) After eating his main course, Corden showed the hair to Balthazar manager G. who was very apologetic. Corden was extremely nasty to G, and said:

'Get us another round of drinks this second. And also take care of all of our drinks so far. This way I write any nasty reviews in yelp or anything like that.'

The second report, which was said to have detailed an event in October, described Corden yelling at a server after some egg white was mixed with his wife's egg yolk-only omelette.

James Corden has previously talked about his conduct when he first found fame.

Back in 2020, the star revealed he had to seek therapy to make him stop being a "brat" after his early Gavin & Stacey days, admitting he found the first flush of fame "intoxicating" and became arrogant and rude as a result.

“I started to behave like a brat that I just don’t think I am," he told The New Yorker.

"It’s so intoxicating, that first flush of fame. And I think it’s even more intoxicating if you’re not bred for it."

According to the outlet, Corden's own mother Margaret even said: "You can try and say, ‘Look, James, you’re making a prat of yourself,’ but you can only do so much".

It was also reported his Gavin & Stacey co-star Rob Brydon had to intervene and told him over lunch: "'Look, this is a bit awkward to say, but I’m just hearing these things about you, and you’ve got to know that the way you behave has an effect on people'"
