A motorcyclist has died after a crash near Stirling on Christmas Day.

Police Scotland said the 60-year-old man was killed after a collision with a car on the A811 close to Leckie at around 2pm on Wednesday.

He was riding a grey Moto Guzzi V100 which hit a red Audi A7 between Kings Knot and Kippen Station roundabouts.

Police attended the scene of the crash, around seven miles (11km) west of Stirling.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene and his relatives have been informed.

A man, 72, driving the car suffered minor injuries and was taken to Forth Valley Hospital for checks.

The road was closed for around 10 hours while investigations were carried out.

Officers said they are particularly keen to trace the driver of a white Dacia Duster seen in the area.

Inspector Andrew Thomson said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died at this difficult time. We will continue to support them throughout the investigation.

"I am now appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, and who has not already spoken to officers, to get in touch.

"I would also appeal to anyone who was driving in this area around that time and who may have dashcam footage which could assist us to contact us."
